Committee Draft Report
November 30, 2015
Dear Faculty Colleagues,
The Core Curriculum Review Committee, after more than a year of research, outreach, and consultation, has developed a draft report which is now available for faculty comment.
This working document proposes a shared vision for Notre Dame’s Catholic liberal arts education as well as some enhancements to the current core curriculum’s framework and requirements.
You can download and read the draft report here:
University of Notre Dame - Core Curriculum Review Committee - November 2015 Draft Report
As we begin the next phase of the core curriculum review—campus-wide faculty deliberation on the draft report—the committee encourages every member of the faculty to read the report, consider it as a whole, and offer comments on how it might be improved.
To share your comments, email corerevw@nd.edu.
Through the spring 2016 semester, the committee will create other methods through which faculty also can offer feedback, including a request that each academic department review the draft report and submit comments to the committee. Additionally, the draft report will be presented for review to each college and school through its college council or equivalent body.
Taking into account all assessments and comments gathered, the committee plans to develop a final report to present to the Faculty Senate, Academic Council, and, ultimately, the University president during the fall 2016 semester.
If you have suggestions about how we can encourage widespread faculty participation in this process, please let us know.
Sincerely,
Michael Hildreth
